Family Intervention

A family Intervention for alcohol or addiction issues is a proven method to help a person accept the necessary treatment now. If matters are only going to deteriorate, then an act of intervention is the kindest gift of all. 95% of interventions are immediately successful, in that your loved one will go straight into recovery. 100% of Interventions benefit the family.

Enabling V Helping

“Helping is doing something for somebody that they cannot do for themselves; enabling is doing it when they could and should be doing it for themselves.”

Addiction, alcoholism, drug dependency, the list is endless affect those around them like no other condition. Addiction will make hostages of all. Addiction spawns enabling responses with the nearest and dearest as behaviours become fixed due to catastrophic fears of consequences.  The family, friend, or employer will often find themselves enabling the problem in an attempt to help the person. Intervention starts with the family. Through education, support, and guidance, a family makes changes that are proven to be effective in bringing a person around to positive change.

Enabling may fix the feelings of the Enabler in the short term, and as such, it works. In the long term, it does not move anyone towards recovery.

When the family trap of enabling protects them, the alcoholic or addict can never find those early rock bottom opportunities that might push them into accepting help.

ACT Intervention Model supports the whole family, together, in moving out of enabling and addiction and into active recovery
